David Brooke-Smith brings over 30 years of professional experience to the helm of our technology advisory firm. As the Managing Director, David is committed to delivering innovative technology solutions tailored for the ANZ utility sector.
David recently founded WaterGain to address non-revenue water issues in Australia, showcasing his dedication to leveraging technology for essential service improvement.

Prior to this, he served as the Director for Digital, ANZ at Xylem (NYSE: XYL), where he managed an extensive portfolio of smart IoT devices, SaaS solutions, AI, and data platforms. His leadership has been pivotal in helping utilities across Australia, New Zealand, and the Asia-Pacific region adopt disruptive technologies and drive industry change.

David’s career is marked by his relentless pursuit of making essential services such as energy and water more accessible, recognizing their vital role in our communities.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Information Systems from the University of South Australia, underscoring his solid academic foundation in the field.

Beyond his professional endeavors, David is passionate about the role of gardening in combating climate change and is dedicated to mentoring aspiring business startups, nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators.

Rob Tanner

Director of Customer Engagement

Rob Tanner leads the Customer Engagement function at 3-Xi, bringing over 20 years of experience with renowned organisations, including Coca-Cola (ASX:CCL) , Itron (NASDAQ: ITRI), and most recently, Copperleaf (TSX:CPLF, now part of IFS), where his most recent role was Managing Director for Asia Pacific Japan and was a key member of the global executive team. Before his Asia Pacific role, Rob established Copperleaf’s operations in Australia and New Zealand as the first regional employee, growing the ANZ team to over 20.

Prior to his time at Copperleaf, Rob spent over nine years with Itron, including his last two years as General Manager for Australia and New Zealand. There, he specialised in utility-focused technologies such as smart metering, Industrial IoT, and communications networks, in addition to leading the regional strategy for software solutions like Meter Data Management (MDM), Asset Performance Management (APM), and big data analytics.

With 15 years dedicated to advancing technology for the utility industry, Rob is passionate about delivering best-in-class solutions that drive long-term success for utilities and their customers.

Rob holds qualifications in Information Technology and an MBA from the University of Adelaide. Rob is based in Adelaide, South Australia and spends his spare time with his young family. He plays a big part in his local community where he coaches junior cricket and Australian rules football. His other hobbies include playing golf and dirt bike riding.

Russell Considine

Russell Considine is a seasoned technology leader with a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions and driving business growth. With 18 years of experience in the software industry and utility sector, Russell’s strong leadership skills, technical acumen and strategic thinking, make him a valuable asset to any organization. He has a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by utilities to reliably and safely provide essential services to our communities.

Having worked in diverse global markets including the UK, Australia, and Canada, Russell brings a global perspective to his work. In his recent role as Global Vice President of Client Experience at Copperleaf (TSX:CPLF, now part of IFS) Russell was responsible for the success of more than 100 global organisations’ Asset Investment Planning solution. Prior to this, he successfully built and expanded Copperleaf’s client base in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and Japan as the Director of Solution Consulting, and Director of Client Experience.

Prior to Copperleaf, Russell held a pivotal role at Itron (NASDAQ:ITR), leading solution delivery initiatives for ANZ water utilities. His expertise was focused on smart metering adoption, non-revenue water reduction, and asset management strategies. Earlier in his career Russell has held impactful roles across various prominent organizations, including Marubeni (TSO:8002) and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). His skills and energy have been sought after by tech start-ups, where he had strategic responsibility in driving innovation and achieving successful exits.

Russell holds a BEng (Honours) – Mechatronic Engineering and when away from his desk he enjoys reading, exploring the great outdoors, and volunteering at his local surf life saving club. His diverse interests reflect his well-rounded personality and commitment to making a positive impact in his community.
